Responsible for gathering requirements, writing technical documents, designing, and developing a variety of projects within Sun Microsystems/Oracle.
  • Responsible for gathering a full application inventory for both Sun and Storagetek, when Sun acquired Storagetek. We were able End-of-Life 95% of redundant applications. Saving Sun Microsystems more than $5 million dollars annually.
  • Supported Sun's main customer trouble ticket system for our field engineers. Had to reverse engineer the code because no Sun support personnel had any knowledge of the system.
  • Supported Sun's Educational Website. Responsible for web server/application server creation and maintenance as well as database maintenance.
  • Worked on Suns JCAPS project creating Solaris packages and patches to help maintain the JCAPS project.
  • Was responsible for packaging/integrating the next generation of Sun's internal messaging platform. Developed a Solaris package that would lay down the software and fully configure all of the message queue, application server and directory server software.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining a collaboration TWiki for application development team. The Twiki helped us manage projects and collaborate since most of the development team is remote from one another.
  • Responsible for creating new web services that exposed Sun educational ordering methods to internal customers allowing internal applications to schedule and book training without fully integrating with the Sun educational platform.

Designed, implemented, tested, and maintained a variety of e-commerce applications. Evaluated proposed solutions and then created project plans and release schedules to help track solutions to each project.
  • Implemented Entitlement Management System to allow Sun's training partner employees to sign up for Sun Educational classes without charge; instead, training partner was billed.
  • Designed and implemented a course searching utility for Sun educational website. I evaluated indexing/search tools and implemented proposed solution.
  • Helped design and code a survey tool for Sun Education that allows for a post-class survey to be given to all Sun students worldwide. The survey is available in 43 countries in 32 different languages. Weekly system throughput is around 2000 surveys.
  • Transitioned a marketing materials ordering system (JavaCart) from old applet based application to fully functional e-commerce website using Jakarta Struts.
